United Way Campaign in Bridgeport "Kicks Off" its Latest Fundraising Effort

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 18, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Bridgeport Mayor Bob Greer was joined by United Way Fundraising Chair James Swiger to officially place a "football" on a field to gauge the amount of money raised for the current campaign. The United Way is looking to raise $840,111 and is using a football on a football field to mark the progress. In past years, a thermometer was used the track the amount of funds raised.

The initial placement of the "football marker" was done today at noon with various members of the Bridgeport City staff, participating United Way agencies and City Council member John Wilson taking part. The marker is located just past the Bridgeport Municipal Complex on U.S. Route 50/Main Street.
