Close your eyes and picture your ideal job environment.  Picture onsite dental and medical clinics, dry cleaning, haircuts and oil change facilities.  Picture onsite car washes, childcare, electric car charging stations and bike repair centers. Picture free breakfast, lunch and dinner and an onsite organic farmers market.  Just imagine working for a place like this, one that has an onsite fitness center, massages and recreation league sports.  A place that offers lifelong learning, unbelievable retirement benefits and onsite festivals, picture this place that even has gear for your children and pets onsite.  Now, open your eyes and go back to your job.

This dream environment is a reality for BHS Alum Nathan Broslawsky.  As an employee for Yahoo!, he is privy to all of these benefits and more but, most importantly, he loves the actual work he does as well.  Teamwork is the key at Yahoo!.  “I am surrounded by thousands of incredibly talented employees who work collaboratively to create amazing projects,” said Broslawsky. “The products we release affect over 700 million users and we are always breaking into new and exciting areas in technology and content.”

Broslawsky’s journey began after graduating from BHS and entering the Computer and Information Technology program at Marshall University.  While there, he worked with an advertising agency to help them get their web development business off the ground.  The experience sharpened his skills in the industry and allowed him to move into a managerial position.

Just as he was about to graduate, a professor referred him for a job with Wall Street on Demand, a 400-person company located in Boulder, CO.  In the two years he spent with the company, he gained experience in cutting edge technology, research, and data analysis.  “I worked with some of the most brilliant minds I have ever encountered,” said Broslawsky.

He decided to take his talent to Yahoo! in 2010, at their Denver office.  He had the opportunity to help create a few new projects, including Yahoo Voices and Yahoo Contributor Network.  At that time he was leading a team of about 10 engineers and branched out into different publishing tools for the company.  Earlier this year, the Denver office closed and Broslawsky was transferred to Sunnyvale, California, the home of Yahoo!.  The team of engineers he built there is responsible for Yahoo’s partner-facing publishing products and analytics dash boards.

In a typical day, Broslawsky works with product management and design teams and makes sure the collaboration runs smoothly.  He is also dedicated to recruiting the best talent in the country to work for Yahoo!.  “It’s a fantastic company to work for,” says Broslawsky, “Work is never boring and I have the opportunity to work with the some of the best and the brightest in the world.”
