BHS Boys Take First at Chick-fil-A Invitational as First Five Runners Place in Top 30; Girls Finish Fifth

The Bridgeport High School boys cross country team had five runners place in the Top 30 on the way to taking first place at the Chick-fil-A Invitational last Saturday in Mineral Wells.
 
Leading the way for the Indians was a 2-3 finish by Troy Zorick and Sam Dodson. Buffalo’s Patrick Reilly had the top individual finish at 16:13. Zorick was right on his heels as the runner-up at 16:15. Dodson crossed the finish line third with a time of 16:32.0.
 
Also for the Tribe, William Northey was 16th at 17:21.7, Ethan Smell was 27th at 17:57 and Quentin Collier was 28th at 17:59 to round out the finishers that counted toward the team standings.
 
Brady Elliott and Colton Reed also competed for the Indians. Elliott had the 70th best time at 20:09 and Colton Reed was 90th at 21:52.9
The BHS boys JV team also finished first at the event.
 
On the girls side, Ash McBrayer ran a 14th-best time of 21:35.6 to set the tone for a fifth-place finish in the team standings for BHS.
Williamstown’s Alyssa Sauro won the race at 18:23 and helped lead the Yellowjackets to the team victory.
 
Mikaela DeMoss had Bridgeport’s second best finish at 28th overall with a time of 22:34.2. Also for the Tribe, Sara Rexroad was 47th at 24:07.1, Annelise Mace was 66th at 24:45.5, Victoria Vash was 74th at 26:21.4 and Chloe Marsh was 83rd at 27:34.7.
 
The BHS cross country teams return to action on Saturday at the Belpre Invitational in Belpre, Ohio.
