Bridgeport High School junior Jake Bice was honored at the Harrison County School Board Meeting on Nov. 3, 2015 for his unique technological talents.  When students were asked to design a promotional flyer for the new Harrison County Schools App, Bice’s design not only won out for the student flyer design, but he was then asked to create one for the parents and the community as well.

The project was presented as part of the Business Computer Applications class at BHS and students submitted a variety of designs that would appeal to teens and younger students.  While there were many creative concepts, it was Bice’s simple but eye-catching flyer that won out.  “I knew most kids and teens were familiar with Spongebob, so I used a theme centered around the “That’s Radical” concept sometimes featured in the show,” said Bice.

In addition to the captivating design, Bice  also included many of the features of the app, including resources available for parents and students.  Those using the Harrison County Schools free app are able to access schools, clubs, staff, sports schedules, scholarship information, and a virtual agenda book.  LiveGrades on the go is available as well as an anonymous tip line for safety issues.

Bice’s community flyer featured a football theme and included a QR code for easy access to the app store.  Social media is quickly being integrated into every aspect of Harrison County Schools and the app is the newest addition.  Bice, son of Matthew Bice and Carrie Robinson, was honored for his creative work by the Harrison County School Board and presented with a certificate for his efforts.
