Bridgeport High School has named Gracie Courtney and Hayden Abraham as its students of the month for May.

Gracie is the daughter of Toma and Chris Courtney. She is a four-year varsity starter for the soccer team at BHS. Gracie was awarded first team all-county, first team all-region, and All-State honorable mention her senior year. She participated in the North South game at the conclusion of her season as well.

She enjoys running, discus, and shot put for the BHS track team in the spring.

Gracie is involved in National Honors Society, Spanish club, Historian of Spanish Honorary, and Secretary of the Senior Class. She has completed many service projects through Student Council and National Honors Society including cleaning up around our community, donating time and supplies to local shelters, and participating in Shop for Tots program during the holiday.

She has been a first violinist in the BHS Orchestra for all four years at BHS. She is a member of United Methodists Church in Fairmont, West Virginia.

Gracie will be attending Fairmont State University in the fall to continue her soccer career and study Biology as well.

As written by Abraham:

My name is Hayden Abraham, and I am a Bridgeport High School senior. I was born in Woodbridge, VA and came to Bridgeport early on in my childhood. My parents are Edward and Erica Abraham, and I have a brother named Brody.

I am a member of Model United Nations, National Honors Society, and I have been class President for four years in student council.

After school, I am a member of the cross country team and the track team, where I throw shotput and discus.

Almost without failure, I join the Young Life group every Tuesday to study the Bible. I also attend South Ridge church in Fairmont.

Currently, I work at the Bridge Sports Complex as a front desk attendant. This fall, I will be heading to West Virginia University to study marketing and organizational leadership. I also plan on joining the rowing team there.

During my time in Morgantown, I hope to continue my Young Life leadership training, and help to guide middle school and high school children into a relationship with the Lord.
