Bridgeport Middle School will hold new student registration 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, July 27 and Wednesday, July 29.

“That is for any students who did not go to Simpson, Johnson or Norwood Elementary – our feeder area,” said Principal Carole Crawford.

Proof of residency is required at registration, she said.

For all BMS students and parents, open house events will be held Aug. 12. Return BMS students entering seventh and eighth grade may visit the school from 3-4 p.m. Those entering the sixth grade, as well as new students to the school entering seventh and eighth grades, are encouraged to attend an assembly at 5 p.m., followed by an open house through 6 p.m.

The events are separated by an hour so that the parking lot can be cleared, making room for the next group of students and parents, Crawford said.

Crawford said she looks forward to another good year at BMS and working with returning and new faculty and staff members.

New teachers include Brooke Cunningham, who will be teaching science; Audra Giguere, who will be teaching math; Kenny Edwards, who will be teaching social studies and Molly Martin Butler, who will be teaching reading.

New to the BMS office is Debbie Kinney, who is the new half-time secretary. She will be working afternoons. A number of other service staff and aid positions are still in the process of being filled, Crawford said.
