Bridgeport High School Continues to Make Upgrades to Facility, Inside and Out with Students' Help

By Trina Runner on November 28, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

In the 63 years since Bridgeport High School opened its doors, the building and grounds have undergone a myriad of changes.  The first addition was completed in 1992 and the second, which included the computer labs, in 1997.  More recently, cosmetic changes on the interior have been a priority.

Mural painting became part of the curriculum in 2010 and now the halls and classrooms are filled with images representing the various subjects and the Indians in general.  Last year, The gym floor was painted, the old boys locker room was carpeted and the cafeteria and hallways got a fresh coat of paint.

In addition to the new lettering on the front of the school, BHS art students also recently painted arrowheads leading to the entrance of the school.  The students are also currently touching up hallway murals and creating new ones for the classrooms that don’t yet have them.

For those areas that serve the public, the auditorium recently got all new carpeting, the light-up sign in front of the building was upgraded and the canopy over the main entrance will be updated in the very near future.

“Keeping the facilities up to date and attractive is a priority for BHS,” said Principal Mark Defazio.  “Our school serves not only the staff and students, but the entire community and we continually look for ways to make it safe and inviting.”
