Harrison County Schools Remote Learning Continues through Dec. 4 as Result of COVID-19 Map Status

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on December 01, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Although Harrison County Schools were already to be exclusively on remote learning until Dec. 2 due to an executive order made by Governor Jim Justice on Nov. 13, students will now continue with remote learning through Dec. 4. The reason for that is Harrison County's status on the state's color-coded metric map that was released Saturday.

A press release from the Harrison County Schools is below regarding the status.

STATE COVID-19 MAP IMPACTING HARRISON COUNTY SCHOOLS:

On Saturday, November 28, 2020, the West Virginia Department of Education, in conjunction with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, released the official COVID-19 map for next week.  Harrison County has been identified in the orange category, which represents a heightened community transmission. Under the orange category, Governor Justice requires that schools suspend in-person instruction.  In compliance with state requirements, Harrison County Schools will operate in full remote instruction from Monday, November 30 through December 4, 2020.  We will continue to monitor this situation closely with state and local health officials. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these challenging times.
