Some wore boas, some wore top hats, some wore tutus, but this event was anything but stuffy.  The annual Johnson Elementary Variety Show took place on April 15 in the Bridgeport High School auditorium and featured 32 performances showcasing the talents of students in grades K-5.

For the second year in a row, Trina Byard organized and coordinated the show.  It was a family affair for Byard, as her children, Callia and Zane, hosted the show along with Hannah Randolph.  Byard’s brother, Jared St. Martin Brown, did the sound and lights for the show.  Byard and Brown both have a strong history in the arts and that was reflected in the professionalism of the show.

The Johnson Elementary Variety Show was true to its name. The variety of acts included singing, guitar, piano, dance, magic, comedy, flute, violins and even cups.  Performers played to a packed house, full of parents, grandparents and friends.  The PTA-sponsored event was designed to show off the talents of the students while building their confidence and creativity.

“The best part of the show may have been backstage,” said Byard. “Students were encouraging one another and rallying around those who were nervous.  It was really neat.”  The audience participation was great as well.  Clapping along with the music, dancing in the aisles and laughing along with the acts showed just how supportive our community is.  The acts reflected hard work, creativity and school spirit as they drew the audience into the two hours of performances.

Those participating included:  Zane and Callia Byard, Isabella Aman, Kayleigh Ratliff, Kennedy Smith, Miyah Swiger, Sophia Devono, Ellie Hart, Mallory Bell, Donovan Engasser, Alice Ribel, Hailey Colton, Robey Holler, Dakota Swiger, Molly Runner, Colleen Matheny, Erin Clark, Abigail Parks, Alexandria Stoneking, Ayden Ward, Zoe Adams, Sarah Meagher, Bailey Tomes, Tori Honaker, Abigail Cvechko, Trey Martin, Corrine Yurkovich, Ty Gandy, Gabriella Sander, Gracee Klingensmith, Sean Jones, Garrett Smith, Denae Terry, Presley Carlyle, Hannah Randolph, Cassie Pugh, Kelsey Dorchak, Violet Sickles, Lexie Hoy, Emily Burnside, Alyssa Mazhar, Danielle Poling, Trinity Singleton, Verina gurguis, Audrie Sprouse, Ashley Hart, Abey Montgomery, Evan Anderson, Alyssa Cleghorn, and Corinne Lalama.
