By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 13, 2023 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Lincoln High School CTE Business students were awarded a $15,000 EPIC Tourism Grant from the WV Department of Education in conjunction with the WV Department of Tourism.

Students and their instructor, Mrs. Julie Yearego, collaborated with several civic organizations, government entities, local schools, and community members to propose ways to improve tourism in and around Shinnston, WV, focusing primarily on improved signage and events along the West Fork Rail Trail and Water Trail. They began this grant proposal in the spring 2023 semester and were awarded the funds at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year.

Students will be volunteering their time with the help of this generous grant funding, assisting with event preparation/implementation and signage design/placement this school year along the rail and water trails to encourage more visitors to our area.
