It could be classified as “The American Dream.”  Local actress, Molly Crowley, honed her craft during her days Robert C. Byrd High School and with community theater.  Right after graduation, she took off for the Big Apple and has been pursuing her acting career in New York City since.

For those who are familiar with N.C.I.S., the character of Anthony DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, was written out of the series at the end of last year.  Weatherly now plays the lead in the series, “Bull,” which is loosely based on the life of Dr. Phil McGraw and his ability to psychologically evaluate jurors in order to win cases.  As a trial consultant, Bull analyzes traits of the jury in order to find strategies that will win them over in favor of his client.

On Tuesday, one of those jurors will be played by Molly Crowley, originally from Clarksburg.  She will play Margaret, a Librarian who believes in strict social norms and selected to serve on the jury for a lawsuit involving a teacher having a sexual relationship with at student.

“It was so fun working on the set,” said Crowley who attends All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport.  “When Michael Weatherly wasn’t playing music and cracking jokes, he was still entertaining all of us. The experience was amazing!”

Crowley got involved with “Bull” when she auditioned for a role in Episode 5.  She was cast in the role but the scene was cut a week before shooting.  The casting director was determined to find another role for her and, about six weeks later, she was called for Episode 11, “Teacher’s Pet.”

This is the second major television role for Crowley, who was also in the first season of HBO’s “Leftovers.”  She also had a supporting role in the indie film “Captured Heart” and was featured in a Paper Lions music video.  Her acting talents were also on display in a medical training video in which she played a schizophrenic adolescent.

“For the last year, I was 2nd Assistant Director on a web series called “Kid Friendly,” said Crowley.  “It is produced by Bridgeport native and fellow actress, Kristin Krall and has been nominated at several festivals.”

Crowley’s appearance on “Bull” will show on Tuesday, January 17 at 9  p.m. on CBS. No doubt, her entire hometown will be glued to the screen in celebration of her success.
