The former doctor at West Virginia University that sat in the first endowed position in a new School of Public Health, backed by a million dollars in public funds, earned the position according to fraudulent claims, according to a report today on NBCnews.com.

 

Anoop Shankar came to WVU and also was the chair of the epidemiology department. NBC News is reporting that the background in which he utilized to earn the positions - including a "genius visa" - were all fabricated. Shankar, according to the article, was dismissed publicly in 2012, but WVU has yet to speak on the matter publicly.
