Vice President of Microsoft Margo Day will address hundreds of technology experts during the three-day 2014 West Virginia Statewide Technology Conference at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown. Day and the West Virginia Department of Education is expected unveil a new high-tech collaboration which will give West Virginia students an edge against their counterparts across the world.

 

 The annual state technology conference attracts hundreds of K-12 educators, higher education representatives and state agency employees from across West Virginia. They will participate in different educational sessions on a variety of instructional technology topics.  In addition, dozens of vendor exhibits will be on display.

 

Concurrent sessions include topics such as Identifying Quality Games, Websites and Apps for Learning; Supporting a Cyber-Safe Culture Through the EducateWV.me Platform; Becoming a Paperless Classroom; and, A Recipe for Success: New Learning Models for the Digital Age.

 

Margo Day is Vice President, United States Education for Microsoft Corporation. She leads a national team that works with K-12 and Higher Education institutions, and across education and government leaders in the United States to focus on improving student learning and reinforce Microsoft’s commitment to youth.

 

Also present will be Illah R. Nourbakhsh, director of the Community Robotics, Education and Technology Empowerment (CREATE) lab and head of the Robotics Masters Program in The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. His current research projects explore community-based robotics, including educational and social robotics and ways to use robotic technology to empower individuals and communities.
