The Governor Requests Individual Assistance for Harrison County

By Shaunda Rauch on October 18, 2012 from Emergency Services Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Almost four months following the June 29th Derecho and emergency services personnel are still working to obtain assistance for our citizens.

A Public Assistance Federal Disaster Declaration (DR 4071) is still underway for 47 Counties (including Harrison) and an Individual Assistance declaration for four counties as a result of June 29th to July 8th storm incident period.  A request for 20 additional counties (Boone, Cabell, Clay, Greenbrier, Harrison, Jackson, Lincoln, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Pocahontas, Putnam, Randolph, Roane, Tyler, Webster, Wetzel and Wood) to be added for Individual Assistance under DR 4071 has been submitted from the Governor to FEMA/President.

IF this declaration is awarded to Harrison County, those with damage to their homes and personal property, such as appliances or costs related to running a medically necessary generator will be asked to  register by calling FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or online at www.disasterassistance.gov.  We do not know when or if FEMA will award this declaration, so we ask that residents watch here for media releases announcing  the status of our Individual Assistance declaration request.
