ORIGINAL: Sierra is 7-year-old Samoyed Spitz, up to date on shots, wormer and has been spayed. Sierra is dog-friendly, but is dominant of younger more energetic dogs. She would do better with an older, more relaxed dog. Although she does show interest in cats, it does not appear to be aggression.

 

Sierra is house-trained and can be affectionate. The breed’s friendly disposition makes them poor guard dogs; an aggressive Samoyed is rare. The breed is characterized by an alert and happy expression. With their tendency to bark, however, they can be diligent watch dogs, barking whenever something approaches their territory. Samoyeds are excellent companions, especially for small children or even other dogs, and they remain playful into old age. Samoyeds are known as affectionate family dogs, though they often bond closest with one person in the household.

 

These dogs need to be with their people, and when left alone too often or for too long, they can become lonely, depressed, and destructive. While very friendly and smart, the Samoyed can be challenging for novice owners. They are a vocal dog and need to be kept busy and active to prevent undesirable behaviors. They also have a strong hunting instinct and will give chase after small animals, including cats.
