Tell us a little about yourself, your family, what you do here in our community, etc.

Hi my name is Catie Wilson, I am the daughter of Shawn and Nicole Wilson and I have two younger sisters, Madie and Allie. I am an Exercise Physiology major at WVU getting ready to graduate here in December. I have been studying to take my MCAT this summer. I love summer because we get to spend it boating at Tygart Lake.

Favorite healthy meal?
I love avocado toast in the morning. I guess my easy go-to meal would be cod with a vegetable quinoa mix.

Favorite workout?
When I am up at school I find that HIIT workouts work best for me because I can get a lot in in a short amount of time. I usually try and alternate lifting and HIIT throughout the week. During the summer I like to run around town and go lift with Madie.

How do you fit health and wellness into your busy lifestyle?
I struggled a bit my first year of college trying to find time and a workout routine that worked best for me. Knowing that working out always helps relieve a lot of school-related stress keeps me honest. I am surrounded by people who also choose to workout and eat healthy which makes things a lot easier too.

What is your favorite motivational quote?
“Play hard, play strong, play fast” is something my dad would always say to us before any sporting event. Although that part of my life has passed, I think just the principle of always going into something knowing you tried your best is important.

How did your health journey start?
Luckily, it was pretty much how I grew up. I had been involved in sports my whole life, we were always doing something. I think I really took an interest in the health aspect of it all during track my freshman year of high school. The coaches really preached about the importance of fueling your body and I enjoyed watching how it affected my race times.

What are some easy healthy habits that you recommend people start with on their journey?
It’s important to figure out what you like to do. Not everyone has the same preferences and not everyone gets the same results, and that’s okay. There are also healthier alternatives to pretty much everything. Take the time to learn about what you’re consuming, taking care of your health goes way beyond your physical appearance.
