Time Travel: 1951 Bridgeport Police, Volunteers from City Fire Department and Wheeling Milk Delivery

By Dick Duez on January 01, 2017 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This photo, believed to be from around 1951, shows volunteers with the Bridgeport Fire Department flanked by two Bridgeport Police officers. If you recognize anyone, please feel free to identify them in the comment section below.
Getting a gallon of milk after work wasn't always the norm. As was the case in Wheeling - and every other community - milk was a delivered commodity and United Dairy Company did  the work in Wheeling.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
