Time Travel: A 1963 Look at Old Valley Hills Shopping Plaza and a Clarksburg Flood Going Back Decades

By Dick Duez on June 16, 2024 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Look familiar? Some may, and some may not. The main road at the bottom is Main Street and the road show in the upper left corner is Virginia Avenue. That is the former Valley Hills Shopping Plaza in its early days in this aerial photo from 1963. Today, it is The Square. The large building at the bottom would eventually be an Ace Hardware and and some of the other structures are still standing.
This photo is beieved to be during a prominent flood in Clarksburg in 1969. However, there was some thought it may have been part of the 1985 flood that blasted the state and region. If anyone knows, feel free to comment below.
