Time Travel: A Decades Rewind to Bridgeport's Paper and Now Demolished Main Street Clarksburg Building

By Dick Duez on April 17, 2022 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

There have been many media groups that have served Bridgeport through the years. Does anyone remember Bridgeport News? The office is shown here, located near Main and Center Streets, from many decades ago. The name of the business is in the left window where they also are shown to offer job printing and mimeograph services. If you have any memories of this business, add it to the comment section below.

Anyone remember the Oak-Hall building in downtown Clarksburg on Main Street. For years, it was home to the Oak-Hall Cafeteria, although it appaears to be closed in this photo, which appears to be from the 1980s. Floetta's Inc., Botique is shown on the right, while Mr. B's Big & Tall Men's Store is shown on the left. All of these structures have been demolisehd.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts Duez to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dickdo@citynet.net.
