Time Travel: A Special Day for the Pure Food Store and Construction on New Route 50 in Clarksburg

By Dick Duez on February 09, 2020 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This photo is from 1954 and it should bring back a lot of pleasant memories for many in  Bridgeport. This is of the grand opening of the Pure Food Store on East Main Street. Although the business is gone and moved to a new location after that - and also closed), the building still remains. Prior to this, the Pierce Movie Theatre was located in the building.
Look familiar? It should. This photo is from 1959 and shows the new four-lane U.S. Route 50 going down near the area of the Third Street/Hewes Avenue exit in Clarksburg. The sign, which can't be made out, appears to say "Stefage Garage." If anyone knows what it actually says or if that is correct, add it to the comment section below.
