Bridgeport High School's cheerleading program has a strong history of impressive seasons to go along with this year's squad qualifying for the Class AA state championship next month. During the 2001-2002 school year, the Indians walked away with the title in this photo supplied by Maria Alvaro Morrison. So who do you know that's pictured? Feel free to ID those you know in the comments section as well as any memories you have from the season or these young ladies.

Although the exact date of this photo is unknown, you can probably draw your own conclusions from the vehicles. Some of the businesses shown include the Abe Simon Restaurant, a Chevrolet dealership, and the Shinnston Appliance Store among others. The Pike Street is the actual road name that continues to this day into Clarksburg. If you know any other businesses pictured or have any recollections of this time period, please feel free to comment below.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at grinder12@frontier.com.
