Time Travel: Back at Origins of Twin Oaks in the City and Elephants at Parkersburg's Smoot Theatre

By Dick Duez on April 08, 2018 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

It is one of Bridgeport's - as well as the region's - iconic restaurants. Here's is a photo from when the Ielapi family began operations back in the 1950s. Feel free to leave any comments about the food or special experiences through the decades below.
Although the exact date of this photo is unknown, it's safe to say it's many decades old and shows a trio of elephants in front of the Smoot Theatre in Parkersburg, perhaps as part of a visit by a circus to Wood County. The Parkersburg News offices can be seen to the left.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard
"Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
