Time Travel: Bridgeport Cheerleaders from 1949 and a Restaurant Known by Thousands in Clarksburg

By Dick Duez on June 07, 2020 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

See anyone you know? This is a photo from 1949 of what is believed to be freshman cheerleaders at Bridgeport High School. Shown in the photo are, from left, Alice Moser, Georgia Capet, Elsie Blair, and Nancy Turoczy.
This photo's date is unknown, but for many the business isn't. It's of the iconic Satellite Drive In that was located on East Pike Street in Clarksburg. Although no longer there, it's situated on the same side of the road as Minard's and between that restaurant and what is today The Caboose.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@citynet.net.
