Time Travel: Bridgeport Junior High Hoops from Early 1980s and Now-Demolished Clarksburg Building

By Dick Duez on January 15, 2017 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This photo is from the 1982-83 Bridgeport Junior High School yearbook and shows the varsity boys basketball team. The team was coached by Lewis "Al" Laska, back row far left, and assisted by current Bridgeport Middle School Athletic Director Art Petitto. Do you know any of these young men or have any memories of that season. Feel free to add thoughts and identifications in the comment section below.
Does this building look familiar? It may because it was recently tore down to make way for a new credit union building that is nearly complete in downtown Clarksburg. This building, which last housed Marion's Beauty Salon, was also the home of Candy Land and others businesses on the corner of Fourth and Pike Streets.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
