Time Travel: Bridgeport Patrols Heading to the Nation's Capital as Belington is Blanketed in 1950s Snow

By Dick Duez on November 29, 2015 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This photo, taken by Tom Kinney in front near the Bridgeport Fire Department location near the Simpson Creek Bridge is from the early 1940s' or early 1950s'. The patrols are getting ready to head to Washington, D.C. If anyone recognizes those pictured or has a better date, please list in the comment section below.

A reminder that winter may be on the way is included in this early 1950s photo from Belington. A heavy amount of snow can be seen in front of the Belington News outlet, which is no longer in business.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
