Time Travel: Bridgeport United Methodist Men Touting Victory and a Still Thriving Clarksburg Restaurant

By Dick Duez on November 12, 2023 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Although the exact year of this photo is unknown, many of the faces in the photo are probably very well known. These are members of the Bridgeport United Methodist Men who competed against the Bridgeport High School Quiz Bowl team. It appears to be a post-match celebration shot touting their undefeated streak. If you know anything about the photo, or who is in it, add it to the comment section below.
The exact date of this photo is also unknown, but it could be from many years ago or not too many years ago. The reason is that Clarksburg's Ritzy Lunch has been in business for 90 years as they began operations on Pike Street in 1933. It is still in the same location near the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center serving up their famous hot dogs as well as an expanded menu.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dickdo@citynet.net.
