Time Travel: Bridgeport's 1951 Baseball Team and a Look Back to Old Glen Elk Building Standing Today

By Dick Duez on June 05, 2022 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Check out this 1951 Bridgeport High School baseball team  photo that was led by Coach Pat Hall. Also notice the team was sponsored by "Bridgeport Livestock Sales."  That is likely Principal N.R. Tolley standing second row to the far right. If you know anyone who is shown, and Dick Whiteman is believed to be standing in the backrow, feel free to add the information in the comment section below.
If this building looks familiar to some, it is because it is still standing. This is the old Standard Mill building located on the corner of Clark and Sixth Street in the Glen Elk Section of Clarksburg. Although not part of a nearby renovation of another historic Glen Elk structure, there is currently work being done on this building. The date of this photo is unknown.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts Duez to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dickdo@citynet.net.
