Time Travel: Center and Main Street Intersection in 1953 and Clarksburg's School Patrol Hoops Team

By Dick Duez on August 28, 2016 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The businesses may not look familiar, but the intersection should. It's Main Street and Center Street from 1953. Check out some of the businesses and advertisements. The Skyline Theatre just outside of Clarksburg is being advertised on the side of the building that features several businesses today, including Almost Heaven Desserts. The Rexall Drug Store, A&P Food Store and the City Grill Ice Cream are all part of the city's business inventory at that time.
This photo, although the date is unknown, features some very familiar names from Harrison County. It is back when there were school patrol basketball teams. If you have any memories from this photo, please feel free to comment below.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
