Time Travel: Construction of Meadowbrook Mall and Some Strawberry Festival Parade Fun from the 1950s

By Dick Duez on September 19, 2021 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Anyone know what this is? It's a decades-old photo of the construction of the Meadowbrook Mall in its very early stages. The mall is approaching nearly 40 years in business.
This photo is from the 1950s and shows an event that - barring COVID - is still taking place today, and that is Buckhannon's annual Strawberry Festival. The parade is one of its signature events. This photo shows the Buckhannon Busy Bees, a 4-H group, being pulled through downtown by a new Ford tractor.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. , the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing effortsDuez to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dickdo@citynet.net.
