Time Travel: Distinguished Men of City of Bridgeport and Looking Back to 1960 and Route 50 Construction

By Dick Duez on March 15, 2020 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Although not a very old photo, many of the men in this photograph have played a part in helping shape the history of Bridgeport. If you know them and have any fond memories of what they've done for this community, please comment in the section below.
This photo is from 1960 and shows the construction of the four-lane U.S. Route 50 running through Clarksburg. This area shows the bridge between the exit to North View and Chestnut Street. The Chestnut Street ramp off of Route 50 East is on the left, while the slight curve on the bottom left portion of the roadway is the area just prior to heading into North View and getting on West Virginia Avenue.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@citynet.net.
