Time Travel: Early Look at Ray Blake's The Canteen and Road Trip Decades Earlier to Seneca Rocks

By Dick Duez on September 02, 2018 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Bridgeport's Ray Blake owned and operated what many consider one of Clarksburg's most iconic restaurants - The Canteen - for decades. This is an early photo of it at is Milford Street location. Today, the site is home to a Dollar General store after two Mexican Restaurants both were unsuccessful at the same location.
While the items in the bottom part of this photo have changed, the beauty of Seneca Rocks remains the same. Although the exact date of this photo is unknown, the cars put it in a proper time frame.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard
"Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
