Time Travel: Going Back to 1962 for a City Restaurant Visit and a 1905 Wooden Bicycle Ride on Route 50

By Dick Duez on November 14, 2021 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Anyone remember when Jenny's Restaurant was located on Main Street. This popular eatery is shown here in this 1962 photo. Today, the building is still home to a place to get a bite to eat as the Dairy Queen is situated there.
Even bicycles were a bit different more than 100 years ago. This photo shows a wooden bicycle being rode in 1905 on Route 50, or the Northern West Virginia Turnpike. This section shown is between Bridgeport and Grafton and shows Henry Wotney riding. This was eventually paved in 1925.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. , the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing effortsDuez to preserve local history.
