Time Travel: Going Back to the '50s in Grade School and Visiting a White Sulphur Springs Restaurant

By Dick Duez on January 31, 2016 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This photo, courtesy of Judy Douglas, is as the picture indicates from the "Old Bridgeport Grade School" in 1954-55. It is what is today Simpson Elementary School. Do you see anyone that you know? If so, please comment in the comment section below.
This is a photo of the Terrace Restaurant in White Sulphur Springs, also from 1954. Note that the business is advertising that it is "air conditioned," which was a big deal at that time.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
