Time Travel: Improving on City's Water Plant More than 60 Years Ago and a Look at the Bruceton Mill

By Dick Duez on September 30, 2018 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Does this building look familiar? To many, it will as it's the old Bridgeport Filtration Plant that sat below what is the current Bridgeport Municipal Complex. This is at the time the plant was being enlarged to a capacity of 400 gallons per minute with a belt line distribution system being installed. In the photo, Mayor Dick Cutlip, center, is shown talking with construction Superintendent W.E. Murphy and Plant Superintendent A.O. Bee. This photo was taken in August of 1954.
Sitting on the Little Sandy Creek, this was the actual Bruceton Mill in Bruceton Mills in Preston County. The beautiful landmark was destroyed by fire in 1952.
