Time Travel: Inside One of City's Iconic Businesses as Well as 1950 Visit to a Clarksburg Ice Cream Parlor

How many remember getting their senior portraits taken inside this building? It is the old Bell Studio operated for decades by Bob Nichols who also managed to capture many images of the city as well as its people beyond senior portraits. This photo is believed to be from the late 1970s or early 1980s.
This photo is from 1950 and shows the inside of Russell's Ice Cream Parlor in Clarksburg. It was located on the corner of Joyce Street and Main Street. It was a popular hangout for high school students at Roosevelt-Wilson and Washington Irving. Eventually, the site became home to the Manchin Clinic and today plays host to a Hardee's Restaurant.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts Duez to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dickdo@citynet.net.
