By Dick Duez on June 28, 2015 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Recognize anyone? This picture from the 1970s is of a Johnson Elementary Fifth Grade class. The photo is courtesy of 1989 BHS graduate David Wilbourn and if you know who is who, feel free to add to the comment section below.

This is the Cheat River covered bridge near Dawson Camp in Preston County on U.S. Route 50.The photo is from 1945. The bridge was built in 1835 and almost was burned by southern raiders during the Civil War. It actually burned in 1964.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history.
