Time Travel: Labor Day Tradition at Hills Department Store and 1990s Clarksburg Pike Street Businesses

By Dick Duez on April 12, 2020 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This advertisment is from the mid-1990s when Hills was still a beloved member of the community a provided its annual Labor Day Sale. For years, the store offered hot dogs for 15 cents and soft drinks for a nickle. It generally drew huge crowds.
Anyone remember this section of Pike Street in downtown Clarksburg. Today, the site is home to Jackson Square, a two level parking lot and event venue. When this photo was taken, believed to be in the late 1990s, it shows some of the businesses fronts that operated for years, including the Brunswick and Skasik's Cleaners. A sign for the "Evans Hotel" can be seen at the top of the tallest building that is painted on the side.
