Time Travel: Main Street Kentucky Fried Chicken and Morgantown High Street Bus Service in Early 1900s

By Dick Duez on April 21, 2024 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Does anyone remember when Bridgeport's Main Street was home to a Kentucky Fried Chicken, now KFC, restaurant? It was decades ago and was housed in the building that currently is home to Rocco's right by the Bridgeport Municipal Complex. In the background is the "Save Mart," which today is a Speedway gas station and convenience store. There are bonus points for anyone who can tell us who the Andy in question is that is being wished a Happy Birthday. Comments on that, or anything about this image, in the comment section below.
This photo's date is unknown, but believed to be from the early 1900s. It shows an "Auto Bus" bus service along High Street in Morgantown. The name of the business can not be seen on the side of the vehicle.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dickdo@citynet.net
