Time Travel: Men Responsible for Bridgeport's Last Drive-In and Old Clarksburg Automobile Dealer

By Dick Duez on May 24, 2015 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The two men pictured above are the Ellis brothers, who ran the drive-in along U.S. Route 50 in Bridgeport and still have their name on the drive-in just outside of Shinnston. Today, Tom Davis' Garden Center and other businesses occupy the land. Many families made it a point to go to either location as part of their Memorial Day weekend. If you have any special memories of these two men or their businesses please feel free to comment below.
This photo from 1957 is in the Point Comfort section of Clarksburg and shows the S&S Chevrolet dealership that once existed there. If you can see in the window, it shows you can make weekly payments of just over $13 if you want to own a vehicle.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
