Time Travel: Volunteer Fire Department Assistance in 1976 and Shinnston's B&O Station around 1900

By Dick Duez on December 03, 2023 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

In this photo from July of 1976, the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department appears to be making a check presentation. According to the back of the photo, pictured, from left, are John Conley, Bud Calfee, Sharon Snider and Etta Carnes. The volunteers have a long history of donations for various causes. If anyone knows what this presentation is for, please comment below.
This photo is from around 1900 and is of the Shinnston B&O station. Pictured, from left, in front of the station are agents Sam B. Davis and W. Ray Long.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history.
