Time Travel: Youthful Days of City Business Owner and St. James Catholic Church 8th Grade Graduation

By Dick Duez on April 25, 2021 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This is Bridgeport business owner Bob Riggs during his youth. The photo, courtesy of Mike Riggs, shows Bob standing beside his parent's home at the intersection of Rivendell Avenue and Johnson Avenue looking toward what would eventually become a housing development by Ray Blake. In the backgroun, the top of the hill is now Point of View. The exact date of this photo is unknown.
For years, St. James Catholic Church in the North View section of Clarksburg was home to its own school. Shown here is a class of eighth grade students during their graduation day. The photo was posted by Marcel Malfregeot on the North View 4 Life Facebook page.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@citynet.net.
