Bridgeport Public Library Liquidating Book Sale Inventory at 10 Cents Per Title

By Julie Perine on January 02, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The holidays have passed, but the bargains have not. Those who love to curl up with a good book can look forward to Bridgeport Public Library’s inventory reduction book sale. Beginning Monday, the sale will be ongoing throughout the month of January.

The library is liquidating its book sale inventory to make room for renovations to take place in upcoming months. Available for only 10 cents each are a number of hardbacks, paperbacks, trade paperbacks, children’s books and video items.

The area which currently houses the book inventory will be converted into a new reading room. The existing carpet will be replaced and new furniture purchased for that purpose, said Natalie Fox, library technician.. All book sale inventory must go before the project can begin. At this time, spring is targeted, Fox said.

The hundreds of items available for purchase include a mix of old and more recently released books. Typically, the library charges substantially more for used books.

“We usually sell hardback books for $2 and paperbacks for $1. We also offer discounts for seniors and Friends of the Library,” Fox said.

For the January liquidation sale, no additional discounts will be offered, Fox said. Money raised through this sale and others are used to fund library events for children and adults.

Bridgeport Public Library is located at 1200 Johnson Avenue and is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
