Here’s a list of events, for all ages, happening at the Bridgeport Public Library during the last 2 weeks of June.
 
Adults
 
Tea and Talk
The Bridgeport Public Library continues its Tea & Talk discussions with The Escape Artist on Monday, June 16th and 23rd, 2014 at 12:30pm. 
The Escape Artist is a two part program airing on PBS Sunday, June 15th and 22nd at 9:00pm. Participants are welcome to bring their own bag lunch to discussions. The library provides tea for each meeting. All are welcome!

Tea and Talk
The Bridgeport Public Library continues its Tea & Talk discussions with Endeavour beginning on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 12:30pm. The program will run through July 30, 2014. Participants are welcome to bring their own bag lunch. The library provides tea for each meeting. All are welcome!

Chess Tournament
The Bridgeport Public Library will host its second chess tournament on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. The Harrison County Chess Club, led by Robert Greer, sponsored and organized the event. All chess enthusiasts and competitors are invited to the tournament!
 
Registration runs from 12:00pm to 12:15pm if not registered prior to June 14th. The first of three rounds begins at 12:30pm. The fee for rated, United States Chess Federation members is $15.00. Registration is free for all other entries. Trophies will be awarded
 to top individuals and to the top female in each section. The winner of the rated section will receive prize money comprised of 85% of the event’s entry fees.

Please make checks payable to the Harrison County Chess Club.
 
A bag lunch will also be available during the event. It consists of a pepperoni roll, a bag of chips, and a dessert -- all for $3.00. The library will provide these refreshments. Therefore payment for bag lunches must be separate from entry fees.
 
Book Talk
 
All are welcome to join the Book Talk for “I Capture the Castle” by Dodie Smith on Wed, June 18 at 4:00. A Book talk is a lively reading group meeting the third Wedn
esday of each month at 4:00pm in the library conference room.  Contemporary fiction, West Virginia literature, acclaimed autobiographies, and other notable nonfiction — books in these categories are among those read and discussed.
 
New members are enthusiastically welcomed; interested library patrons should contact Joanne at 304-842-8248.
 
 
The Colorful Yarns
All those interested in knitting or crochet or needlepoint, including crewel and embroidery are invited to attend the Colorful Yarn meetings and share ideas! Bring your current project to work on while mingling with fellow fiber enthusiasts on Tues, June 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Teens
 
Teen Movie Night
Teens are invited to movie night at the Bridgeport Public Library on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm! The feature presentation is Red Dawn (1984)! Pizza and refreshments will be provided! Registration is required and can be easily done by calling 304-842-8248 or by stopping by the library’s front desk. This event is for teens between the ages of thirteen and nineteen.

Teen June Read
Teens at the Bridgeport Public Library will discuss Words in the Dust by Trent Reedy on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Teens will meet and play the popular card game, Phase 10, on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. All teens, between the ages of thirteen and nineteen, are welcome!

Kids
 
Fizzing Formulas
 “Fizzing Formulas” is a Bridgeport Public Library Summer Reading program for children between the ages of four and twelve. The program will be offered twice: Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 12:00pm and Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 6:00pm. Children will experiment with simple chemical reactions and learn about the fizzing results! Registration is required and can be easily done by calling the library at 304-842-8248.

Groovy Lava Lamps
“Groovy Lava Lamps” is a Bridgeport Public Library Summer Reading program for children between the ages of four and twelve. The program will be offered twice: Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 12:00pm and Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 6:00pm. Children will learn about the power of carbonation when combined with liquids of various densities. Registration is required and can be easily done by calling the library at 304-842-8248.

Story Walk
“Story Walk” is a Bridgeport Public Library Summer Reading program for children between the ages of four and twelve on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 12:00pm at the Bridgeport City Park. Children will walk through the park while viewing scenes from a book brought to life by volunteers! Registration is required and can be easily done by calling the library at 304-842-8248.
