Beta Readers Interest Meeting!

The Bridgeport Public Library will host an interest meeting for beta readers on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 2:00pm! Community members interested in supporting local talent and becoming involved in the process and journey towards publication are encouraged to attend! Beta reading is just the beginning, as the library is hoping to provide other types of support for local authors. Join us to learn more!

 

 

Tea & Talk – Endeavour Season 2

 

The Bridgeport Public Library continues its Tea & Talk discussions with season 2 of Endeavour beginning on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 12:30pm. The program will run through July 21, 2014. Participants are welcome to bring their own bag lunch. The library provides tea for each meeting. All are welcome!

Teens

 

Teen Movie Night – Jaws

Teens are invited to movie night at the Bridgeport Public Library on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm! The feature presentation is Jaws (1975)! Pizza and refreshments will be provided! Registration is required and can be easily done by calling 304-842-8248 or by stopping by the library’s front desk. This event is for teens between the ages of thirteen and nineteen.

Kids

 

Liquid Launch

 “Liquid Launch!” is a Bridgeport Public Library Summer Reading program for children. There are three opportunities for children to participate: Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 12:00pm and 2:00pm and Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 6:00pm! Children between the ages of four and twelve are invited to participate in a scientific experiment using AlkaSeltzer, vinegar, and paint! The library’s back parking lot will be decorated with the chemical reaction’s colorful results, resembling chalk designs on pavement! Registration is required.

 

Story Laboratory

“Story Laboratory” is a Bridgeport Public Library Summer Reading program for children between the ages of four and twelve. The last Story Lab event will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 12:00pm. Story Laboratory is open to children, parents, and volunteers. The program encourages children to partner with others to enrich their reading experience. If you’d like to volunteer to read with a child or register your child for the program, please call the library at 304-842-8248 to register for a fifteen minute time slot.

 

Birds of Prey!

Summer Reading programs at the Bridgeport Public Library are winding down, but the last week (July 7-12, 2014) is full of special events to celebrate the end of another fun-filled summer at the library! The week kicks off with a “Birds of Prey” show provided by the West Virginia Raptor Rehabilitation Center on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 6:00pm. This program is geared towards an audience of all ages and all are welcome to attend!

 

 

Bat Simulation Show

The “Bat Simulations Show” is a special program at the Bridgeport Public Library offered to celebrate the end of Summer Reading 2014! The Division of Natural Resources will provide the program and explain bats’ use of sonar to locate prey to attendees. This program is on Tuesday, July 8 at 6:00 pm and is geared towards an audience of all ages. All are welcome to attend!

 

Summer Reading for Children FINALE!

The Bridgeport Public Library invites participants of Summer Reading for Children and their families to the Bridgeport City Park for its annual finale picnic on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm! Food, prizes, and local magician Kevin Lyons are all part of the celebration! The Bridgeport Public Library thanks the over 230 children and their parents for participating in Summer Reading 2014!

 

Deborah Gladwell Book Signing

Deborah Gladwell, WV author of The Adventures of Shy Spy Time Traveler, a Christian themed children’s book, will be at the Bridgeport Public Library on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Copies of Shy Spy will be on sale at the library during the event!
