The Basics of Comedy Writing by Steve Goff Workshop at the Library

The Bridgeport Public Library will again host local comedy extraordinaire Steve Goff! Goff will teach a comedy workshop on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. All comedy enthusiasts, ages teen to adult, are invited to participate. The class is limited to fifteen participants and registration is required.

About The Basics of Comedy Writing taught by Steve Goff This course is an introduction to sketch comedy techniques including characterization, comic premise and story structure. Using exercises and material from The Second City Training Center, participants will explore the basics of comedy sketch writing, and have the opportunity to develop and write original sketches of their own, or as part of a collaborative writing team. As taught at the 2013 West Virginia Writers Conference. Regardless of what you write, these sessions will help energize your writing and help jump start your creative process. This course is great for learning how to develop funny scenes and characters; and how to fashion comedic dialogue.
