A MESSAGE FROM BRIDGEPORT MAYOR ANDY LANG

First and foremost, I want to thank the citizens of Bridgeport and the surrounding areas for your cooperation during this unprecedented time. The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has presented its challenges to our nation and state, and the situation remains ongoing. I believe Bridgeport has risen to the occasion as a community, and I am reminded why I am grateful to live here.

City management continues to react quickly and effectively with direction from the governor’s office, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, and the Center for Disease Control. Department heads, the mayor, and members of city council are in daily communication with the City Manager, Randy Wetmore, over the latest developments in COVID-19, as well as the management of supplies for continued city services. Bridgeport has been and continues to be financially secure.

Additionally, I would like to thank the medical community of north central West Virginia for your service. We are fortunate to have United Hospital Center and many of its staff and personnel call Bridgeport home.

I encourage everyone to check in with your neighbors, friends, and family, particularly those who are elderly, and continue to follow the recommended health and safety guidelines as outlined by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources at http://www.dhhr.wv.gov.

Lastly, as more information and direction from Government officials becomes  available the City will get the information out to the community as quickly as possible.

Andy Lang
Mayor of Bridgeport
