ABB Scarecrows are on Display; Which Will Win the Traveling Trophy? Voting is Open

By Julie Perine on October 18, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

If you've traveled the city's Main Street corridor this week, you've been greeted by more than two dozen whimsical scarecrows. The Halloween-time display is an annual project of the Associated Businesses of Bridgeport. Member businesses create and display the scarecrow character of their choice for the pleasure of residents and visitors to our city. Secured to lamp posts – by assignment from the ABB – the whimsical creatures are inspired by the specialty of the host business, pop culture trends or seasonal elements.

To boost the fun factor, one scarecrow - chosen by popular vote - will be awarded the ABB's traveling plaque which can be displayed at the business until next year's contest.

ABB officer Brad Ford said year after year the display of creativity is quite impressive.

"There are more this year than usual and it looks like people really put thought into them," he said. "I think they look just great and hope people enjoy them."

In its eighth year, the display features 26 scarecrows. See a gallery of scarecrows below, then vote - by Scarecrow number - at the poll located to the right of this and every Connect-Bridgeport page.

Voting will be open through Nov. 1. Only one vote per device will count.

All scarecrows must be removed by Sat., Nov. 3. The winner will be announced on Connect-Bridgeport Nov. 5.

Heading up this year's display is ABB member, "About You Monograms" owner Lisa Lang.

The Associated Businesses of Bridgeport is an active organization which focuses on connecting Bridgeport businesses and building a strong business community. Any Bridgeport business not already a member of the ABB can secure membership by paying $80 annual dues and filling out paperwork.
