BHS Alumni & Friends 2024 Hall of Fame Inductees Named

The Bridgeport High School Alumni & Friends Foundation I pleased to announce 2024 Hall of Fame inductees.
This year’s honorees are founding foundation member Beverly "Cookie" (McGinnis) Compton, former BHS teacher Julie (Jarvis) Tomes, loyal volunteer Tom Mellott and singer, songwriter, music producer and instrumentalist Scott Simons. Being honored posthumously is William A. Moore, former BHS principal.
“The alumni foundation and the Bridgeport community has once again chosen well deserved individuals,” said BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation President Teresa Lunsford. “We are so pleased to honor them and their accomplishments.”
Compton is a 1975 graduate of Bridgeport High School. Tomes is a 1963 BHS graduate, and Simons is a 1994 graduate.
The Hall of Fame is open to BHS graduates and non-BHS graduates. Alumnae must have benefited society or the community in which they live, excelled in their chosen field, or directly contributed to BHS through time or talent. Those not graduating from BHS must have directly benefited BHS through time or talent.
Nominees were made by community members and voted upon by BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation board of directors.
The BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization that offers financial need to students interested in furthering their education. The organization raises funds to offer scholarship opportunities for each graduating class.
Inductees will be honored at the BHS football game on Fri., Nov. 8 and the Hall of Fame Banquet 
on Saturday, Nov. 9. The banquet will be held at The “O” by Oliverio’s and tickets are $50 each. Details will follow, as well as full bios of the 2024 honorees.
