Funding for the scholarships is made possible through fund-raising done through the Foundation including proceeds from the annual strawberry sale and BHS clothing sales.

However, the vast majority of the funding is through the generous, individual donations of alumni and friends of Bridgeport High School. “Every year, we have selfless donors who find it a worthy endeavor to ease the college burdens of BHS students whom they’ve never met,” said foundation president, Chuck Steele. “Planting the seed of going forward from graduation and also giving back is probably not a bad message to instill in these graduating seniors.”

And, it is a seed the BHS Alumni and Friends Foundation hopes to plant well into the future.
