BHS Alumni Band Rehearsing for, Marching in Saturday's City of Bridgeport Christmas Parade

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 30, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Once again, the Bridgeport High School Alumni Band will make an appearance in the Bridgeport Christmas Parade scheduled for 10 a.m. Sat., Dec. 5.

As the musicians march across Main Street, they will be playing “Christmas on Parade.” A rehearsal will be held 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at Bridgeport Middle School band room. Leading that rehearsal will be BHS alum and BMS Band Director Eric Stoneking. Please enter the school from the back band room entrance. Those making their debut with the alumni band can purchase a T-shirt for $15. Instruments can also be borrowed by contacting Beverly.atchison@gmail.com.

For those who cannot attend rehearsal, the band will be running through the musical selection prior to Saturday’s parade. Those interested in marching are asked to meet at 9 a.m. in the upper parking lot of Oliverio’s Ristorante. Suggested attire is black turtleneck, red alumni band T-shirt, dark pants and Santa hats. Hats will be provided to those who don’t have them.

When marching in the annual Christmas and Homecoming parades, the alumni band is always well-received, Burge said. It is typically a small group, but one which makes an impact on the hometown celebrations. Organizers encourage others to get on board with this effort. All of those who march agree that it is always a good time and a flashback to earlier days.
